Is it possible to upgrade my usb port by removing my laptop's optical drive

ram :- 6 gb
it is an old laptop i am thinking to upgrade my laptop with an usb 3.0 port by remoivng the optical drive of my laptop. Is it possible to do that.

You should be able to swop your main drive out for a SSD.
Not sure about running one in the optical bay though as I don't think that system was designed for it. But since it's a SATA interface, I also don't see why it could not work.
