Gtx 690 vs gtx 970

Solution
970 by far, newer driver support. less power hungry, dx12 support etc

while raw power the 690 may be better, the card runs hot, loud, and is huge.
plus it wont support dx12.

and if your 970 dosent cut it down the line you can sli them for cheap once pascal comes out

Solution
Please keep all the parts together. The other thread would be better handled by adding to this one.

A new 970 costs about $300 and can be overclocked further and has all the 'goodie' left in it. Add that to the other advantages and that's what I would get. Refurbished units can be close to $250.

Also 690 is a dual gpu, means that you have to be carefull with sli support in games which is painfull as many games have poor sli support. As the guys above told you, maybe in papers gtx 690 seems more powerfull than 970 but in real world perfomance 970 has the edge and nvidia drivers always favour newest cards in perfomance.
