My internet connection drops all the time... I have to restart the router manually and then it will be back on (usually). Only the last hour my connection dropped 3 times... This drives me nuts. I called my company they remotely checked my line and said there is nothing wrong with it. I know for fact that it is not the router because i tried plugging an other router and the same random disconnections occurred. Any ideas?

THERE, this signals the modem has lost contact with the ISP, this solidly points to ISP responsibility.

If you don't already know, most ISP, at least whoever first answers your phone are incompetents, or they really have minimum access/troubleshooting tools and their job#1 seems to tell you "everything is fine here!"

When you call the ISP, they are not responsible for what's happening to your router, to your PC etc, that's you, so telling him "I can't get Internet" goes nowhere. They ARE responsible for the modem however, so when I call, I go straight "Modem has a red light, and I reset it a few times" then they shut up asking me dumb questions. Read...

3 commands can help you figure out most network problems:
ipconfig
ping
tracert

read about them, use them, figure out whats going on.

it goes out when there is no internet and starts flickering when it is back on.

there should be several lights on the modem, tell us the status of all of them when the internet works and when it does not.

Read up the manual what those lights signify.

*sigh* One time they asked me if i am downloading something and that drains away my speed even after i told them the connection appears to be down... AS IF i am such a fish brain not to know the difference between having slow data transfer rate and disrupted connection...
