Is it possible to upgrade from Windows 7 x64 legacy bios boot to Windows 10 x64 UEFI boot?

I have a machine that is running Windows 7 x64 and has a UEFI bios, although, it currently boots in legacy bios mode. I am considering an upgrade to Windows 10 x64, and I am wondering if it is possible to make Windows 10 boot using UEFI without losing all my data in the process.

Does anyone know whether this is possible?

I think I found my own answer in that if I want to do the conversion from legacy boot to uefi boot, I would need to do that as an extra step either before or after I upgrade to Windows 10. The conversion cannot be done as part of the upgrade.
