Overclocking Core i7 920 and cooler

Hi,

I have a Core i7 920 2.67ghz that I want to overclock on a Asus P6t SE. I just don't know how much I want to overclock it to... I don't want to risk increasing crash errors and reducing lifespan of the CPU. So, I want to know which coolers I should choose for 3.5ghz and 4.0 ghz. I'm referencing two different speeds because I assume I can get away with a cheaper cooler for 3.5...

You can get most of the coolers out there and take that CPU to 3.8. I have done 3 of them to 3.8 without even changing the CPU voltage.

Thanks! Can I use the stock cooler that came originally with the pc? No idea which cooler it is, but it must be pretty basic...

Stock coolers are a no go for overclocking. You will need something aftermarket.

Thanks guys! Do you know how can i monitor the cpu temperature to make sure it isn't overheating? Is there a free app to do that?
