When ever i am playing a game my fps and cpu usage dips. I have a amd 8320 OC to 4.4 ghz. msi 970 mobo, rp 390 8gb gpu. and 2x8gb sticks of hyper x fury ram. what could be causing it. I ran the amd over drive stability test and everything looks normal to me after a bit of letting it run.
When my cpu drops my fps drops in all games i play.

Get CPU-Z and check the CPU Multiplier. My guess is that it's dropping because the CPU Thermal Throttles when the temperature gets too high. Check how it's running as soon as you start the game and then how it looks when it slows down.

Ok, that makes sense for now. This time, leave it running and start a game until performance drops. As soon as that happens, alt+tab back to the desktop and check the multiplier again to see if it's going down.
