I have an ASUS P5N-E SLI m/b which has two faulty Channel A slots. The 4 x DDR2 667Mhz 5300U 1GB rams all work in the B channel slots. If I buy 2 x 2GB Rams and use them in B channel would that cure my problem.I have inspected the faulty slots and also looked at the processor, but cannot see any obvious problems there. The whole system, a MESH Elite Q4 FX,with a LGA775 processor was working fine up to a month ago.I am running Windows 7 and motherboard handbook says it is capable of 8MB of Ram when using Windows 2000 The system is 7 years old and has served me well,is it time to say farewell and upgrade.

You'd have to buy DDR2 RAM if you wanted it to work with that motherboard.
But such RAM is already 2 generations old and can be expensive to find.
I recommend that you get a new PC entirely; it would serve you better I think.
