I bought my new pc all arrived, my first build so it took me several hours with many sore fingers, I then turn it on and on the asus x99 pro it gives an error message 53, which is something wrong with ram, so I push the memok button still same error, I try every combination 1 stick 2 stick in every 8 slots for about an hour and half, I then remove the ram so no ram in system, and it still gives me same error 53 when it should be 55, to say no ram installed, am I right to say the motherboard is defective and not the ram? I also cmos with jumpers buy nothing, also when I turn it on the CPU light shows for a slip seconds then goes, would there be something wrong with my cpu?

Asus x99 pro
G.skill ddr4 2x8gb 3000mhz c14.
I7 5960x

Solution:
The motherboard bios was first ever one so it can only accept ram that is in the manual, so what you'll have to do is buy the cheapest ram, stick it in the system error 53 would now go, and will POST, then update the BIOS via USB, after completion shut it down and install original ram, and it should work, and return the cheap set of ram.

Hi @tradesman1 I followed your guide but nothing,
I took it out of case, inserted 24 pin and 8 pin connectors, installed cpu and corsair h115i radiator and fan. no gpu, no ram, no front io connectors, nothing else, and it still shows error 53, any other ideas, before I return as I'd have to pay shipping cost roughly £20!!

Would it be safe if I were to remove cpu radiator, leaving cpu by itself, if that doesn't work then remove the CPU entirely, and check to see what happens, to eliminate cpu 'interference'?
