So my current system is running an old Intel Core2 quad Q6600, 4gb of ddr2 ram, and a Nvidia Geforce 8800 GT. My friend sent me a care package of (still) old but slightly better parts. The processor is an AMD Phenom II X6 1035t, including the AM3 motherboard it's supposed to be installed on, 4gb of ddr3 ram, and an ATI Radeon HD 5770 Juniper Edition. Please refrain from throwing up in your mouth, I know it's bad but it's better than what I have! Anyway, I left my Hard drive and in the case and tossed in the new parts.
As I booted up, it said Windows failed to start, "a hard drive or software change may have caused this". I had a choice to start Windows normally or launch Windows Repair which was recommended. When I chose Start normally, it acted like it was about to start, then reverted back to the screen that gave me the choice to start normally or start windows repair. When I launched Windows Repair, it scanned and said windows repair could not solve the issue, and essentially failed to start windows overall.
My friend and I thought that it was because I installed an AMD cpu/gpu into a system that had Intel/Nvidia drivers running on it. Also the motherboard is different obviously.
Any input would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!
