nvidia 970 graphics card not being detected

Just built new machine:
http://pcpartpicker.com/p/6NhTXL

However, it can't detect graphics card. I went into bios to disable integrated graphics and set default display to be PCI-E1 but still nothing. Any idea? Thanks!

Make sure you plug in all the pcie pin the GTX 970 needs.
Make sure the monitor is connected directly to the graphic card's display outputs.

No the pcie power slots on the GTX 970. You have one 8 and one 6 pin pcie power slots that needs to be connected by your power supply.

Oops, that might be my problem. The 8 pin is connected but the 6 pin is not. The graphics card lit up making me think that it is fine. I am guessing both 8 pin and 6 pin need to be connected?

yes both need to be plugged in to fully use the graphic card.
