Solution
If the computer cant see it then no software recovery is possible.
You must first find out why its not being seen.

Assuming this is an external drive thats out of warranty,

You might need a new power adapter or cable.
- Power might be fine if you can feel the drive spinning when power is on.
- Hopefully you have another cable to try/test with

You might simply need a new usb housing.
- You can test this by opening the existing housing and extracting the sata drive* and mounting it internally to a desktop computer and if it now works then the problem is the housing.
* not all external drives use sata drives. Please let us know the full model# from the serial # sticker so we can check.

If the drive is not detected by the bios...

If the drive is not detected by the bios when connected internally then you have bigger problems.
- Is it spinning, you should be able to feel the vibration and probably hear it.
- Is it making any unusual noised, like repeated clicking?
