Okay, so I'm currently building a PC.

My Motherboard is : ASROCK 970M Pro3
My CPU is either: AMD FX-6300 or AMD FX-8350.

My motherboard supports up to 2400MHz RAM, but those CPU's only support up to 1866MHz. Can I run the 2400MHz RAM on my system and get any benefit. Or would it be a waste of money and would I only get 1866MHz out of it?

The RAM would be: 16GB (2 x 8GB Kit of 2) 2400MHz DDR3 Non-ECC CL11 DIMM XMP.

It depends on your individual CPU, I've seen some 6300s that can run 2400 (very few) and more that can run 2133. Regardless, the DRAM won't automatically clock to 1866, when installed it will go to the mobos default (prob 1333) unless the sticks are PnP, which only is used by the Fury line at present. The you need to set them to 1866 or whatever.
