System specs
Motherboard - Gigabyte 990fxa-ud7
CPU - AMD FX6300
GPU - Gigabyte WINDFORCE 290X
PSU - Thermaltake Toughpower XT 1275W

So, recently my CPU temps have been rather high and the fan has been running at full speed under small load, so I decided to clean up the CPU and replace the thermal paste. During this process I decided to try to connect 3 fans on the top of my case that were not originally connected due to lack of fan headers on the motherboard. I managed to connect the 3 fans to the molex connectors on my PSU. Upon switching the system back on I noticed a small puff of smoke come from the motherboard. I quickly switched the power off and removed the 3 fan connections. When I powered up again it would not boot up, there was power there, but it would not post. I switched the PSU off for a few mins and tried again. This time there was no power lights on my PSU, so after a while I diagnosed that my PSU had failed. I replaced it with a 850W PSU, connected everything up and although I now had power to the motherboard, it still failed to post. I then spent a whole day trolling these forums and tried ALL the methods I read to diagnose the issue. I cleared the CMOS, tried with 1 RAM stick, no RAM, checked all power cables were seated correctly, re-seated the CPU. The only thing I couldn't try was removing the GPU, as there was no on board video output from my motherboard. I did not have a on board speaker to test for post beeps but my motherboard has a debug LED, which would briefly flicker upon boot and then nothing. All motherboard power lights were on, fans spinning, but no debug code and no post. So today I decided that after seeing the small puff of smoke I may have fried the motherboard, so I picked up a quick replacement from a local shop ASUS M5A78L-M/USB3. I connected up the CPU, RAM and GPU and tried to boot, but still no post, no signal. I tried removing the GPU and using the on board video output, I tried swapping the RAM. I removed the speakers from an old laptop and connected them up to see if I had any post beep codes, but still nothing (I had to make up a cable for the speakers as the laptop connector was different, so maybe this was incorrect). So, after 2 days I am now wondering WTF can I do next? Could this possibly be a faulty CPU? There was no signs of damage what so ever. Should I fork out for another FX6300 and try that?

Thanks in advance for any help that can be offered

So, It turns out that I had blown my PSU, motherboard, CPU, GPU and SSD. Installed a new CPU today, removed the GPU and am currently installing windows to a new HDD.

Ok, so we are all up and running after some major dents in my wallet. I have done a clean install of Window 10 (previously running Windows 7). As I haven't replaced my GPU and using the onboard graphics of the AMD 8320, I am trying to output to 2 monitors from the motherboard. It has VGA, DVI, HDMI. I connected the 1st monitor by VGA to VGA to get Windows installed, then connected the 2nd monitor by HDMI to HDMI. The problem is Windows will only see 1 at a time and won't recognise the other one. I am unsure whether this is a driver issue or whether this configuration is simply not possible with this ASUS motherboard. I have replied on here, but will create a new post in the correct section.
