I think that maxed out ROTTR in 4K looks better than any game,
and yes, I'm saying it looks better than Star Wars Battlefront.
Battlefront looks very good in some places but overall it seems more gimmicky, and when a game looks real, the first thing I do is try to figure out if the game is tricking me into thinking it looks real, or if it ACTUALLY looks real.
Lara is hands-down the most detailed, life-like video game character, both in terms of pixels and in terms of animation. I can look into her eyes and see that little reflection you see in a person's eyes that tell you what they're looking at. Somehow, everything in the game looks real to me, in a way I've never experienced with any other game.
here are some games I previously thought to look realistic:
they're in order from most realistic to least realistic
Battlefront, Killzone Shadowfall, Dirt Rally, Metro Last Light, Uncharted 3, God of war ascension, Crysis 3, God of war 3, Just Cause 3, Shadow of Mordor
But in all of the above games there are DEAD giveaways that what you're seeing is not "realistic" but just a trick designed to give you the impression of realism.
but Rise of the tomb raider just feels different. Very, very different. like the world is alive, and real, and I can't find any imperfection in the game's world to believe otherwise, is it because of the physically based rendering technology they're using
I am not incredibly educated in math, or computer science, so I was hoping for feedback from someone who was
(and if you're about to argue that there's a game better looking than ROTTR, firstly, I'll never believe you, and secondly, this thread's not about what game looks the best, it's only about rise of the tomb raider)
