so im setting up windows 7 on a virtual machine because one of my old programs i need to run only works on windows 7 and im currently on windows 10. My question is how much memory/processors/cores per processor should i use? im using VMware, when i tried to install it the 1st time with 2GB ram and 1 processors it was super laggy and almost unusable. thanks for the help!

Specs
-------------
VMware
i5 4790k
8GB Ram

Solution
2GB of ram and one core should be enough for the OS to run good. It is for me at least.

You still have to fulfill the programs requirements. Also, are visualization options turned on in the UEFI bios ? The CPU supports it (previous K series options did not) but the motherboard might not. If visualization is not enabled, it will be laggy.

it wont let you run with 4 cores. try 3 cores 6 gigs ram. any reason you cant do a dual boot?
