I recently installed a GTX970 into my tower to upgrade from my old graphics card. After installing all of the drivers I needed I soon found that I could not hear anything from my tv speakers that my tower runs to via HDMI.
The previous output that it would run to; labeled "Digital Audio (HDMI)" shows sound as being received and processed, but the output that actually sends sound to my tv "SONY TV-4" is shown as not plugged in. After some work reinstalling the drivers as suggested the sound worked for quite a while, but after shutting off my PC for updates I have run into the same problem.
I've worked out enough from other posts to realize that it's a communication issue for the sound component of the HDMI but am unsure of how to actually approach a permanent solution.
