I just updated to windows 10 and got a new SSD and did a fresh install. I formatted my old HDD that had windows 7 on it.

So SSD has windows 10
HHD is blank NFTS formatted drive now.

My problem is when I restart it keeps trying to boot to the old HDD and says error NFTS file system.

I have set the order in BIOS. The old HDD isn't even an option. But I can only get to my windows 10 install on the new SSD by changing the boot order on start up.

PC:
Gigabyte 970A UD3P rev1 motherboard
FX 6300 CPU
MSI R9 390 GPU
Mushkin Reactor 1tb SSD
Seagate 2TB hybrid HHD

Hey there, Oliver.

What do you mean by just updated, but made a fresh install? Would you please post a screenshot of what you see about the drives in Disk Management? Here's how to access it: How to access Disk Management in Windows to manage hard drives. Did you had just the SSD connected to the motherboard during the Windows installation process?
Basically what you could do is to try the SSD with a different SATA port and SATA cables on your computer and make sure that you've selected it as first booting device from your BIOS/UEFI. Another option is to reinstalling Windows from scratch with just the SSD connected to the motherboard during the installation process. This is recommended as sometimes the boot partition or other...

Another option is to reinstalling Windows from scratch with just the SSD connected to the motherboard during the installation process. This is recommended as sometimes the boot partition or other system files might be written on the secondary storage drive and thus lead to issues like this one. Resetting or updating your BIOS/UEFI might also do the trick.

Hope that helps. Please let me know how everything goes.

No worries. The important thing is that everything seems to be working fine now. Good job! :)

However, you could run a diagnostic tool and test both the SSD and the HDD, just to be on the safe side and make sure that there are no errors whatsoever. Other than that, making regular backups of your important data is always recommended, as this could save your files in similar situations or if a drive fails unexpectedly, so keep that in mind.

Cheers!
