Does RAM Voltage matter?

Ivy Bridge i5s apparently only can have a max of the ram being ~1.5v. My 8gb Ripjaws has 1.6v. Is this safe to use or can I decrease the voltage if it is an issue?

Yes, you want to use the correct voltage ram for the CPU you have, by using higher voltage ram you are forcing an overclock of the memory controller on the CPU. This may work fine, but probably will not. This may cause stability issues.

You should use the correct RAM for both your CPU and motherboard to ensure stability and longetivity.

This is what I planned on using, may also go for different PSU, depending on if budget allows. The reason I have a more powerful CPU than GPU is because I plan to play alot of GTA V, which is very CPU dependent.

So do you own these parts already or this is what you plan on buying?

1.5-1.575 is the basis for DRAM at stock speeds, with higher speed and high performance DRAM voltage up through 1.65 are perfectly acceptable, and even listed as compatible by Intel ;) These are 'high' performance sticks (1600/7) and will be fine, they aren't going to hurt anything

Ok so then in reality instead of buying the ram you have selected, go here:

https://us.msi.com/file/test_report/TR10_2652.pdf

Thats the tested memory list for your motherboard. Pick something out from that list, as it will guarantee both compatibility and performance.

my mistake, I actually do own the ram and gpu.
