Which internal HDD is more durable for long time storage?

Solution
Hey there, Game890!

I'm gonna start explaining the WD HDDs' features you have mentioned backwards, so you can get a general idea of what they are purposed for.
I believe you shouldn't even consider the WD Purple because this is our surveillance HDD. It is built for 24/7 high-definition security systems. This drive is a reliable solution for a video recorder system, but it's not designed to deliver the same experience in desktops.

The WD Black is our performance drive. It incorporates a dual-core processor and 64 MB cache with 7,200 RPM (5 & 6 TB versions have increased cache of 128 MB). It's designed to withstand the workload in high-end gaming rigs and if you are using demanding...

If you're using the drive exclusively for "cold" storage, go with the Green drive.

Black if you want the most performance per dollar, Blue for an all-around, Red for server/NAS storage, Purple for 24/7 high I/O setting.

Another advantage of these models is the fact that they have a 5-year limited warranty.

The WD Green is no longer with the same name. We have made some changes to simplify the HDD selection by consolidating our mainstream PC products to only the WD Blue family.
The family consists of the 7,200 RPM-class WD Blue drives that are up to 1 TB in size and are suitable for everyday computing in mainstream PCs by delivering a solid performance.
The other WD Blues are in the 5,400 RPM class drives (and were previously known as the WD Green) and they are definitely a reliable solution for your massive data and backup storage. Their IntelliSeek feature calculates optimum seek speeds to lower power consumption, noise and vibration.

The WD Red is our NAS/RAID storage solution. It is again suitable for long-term storage, especially if you plan to upgrade it by adding another WD Red to create a RAID array or to use them for Network-attached storage systems. These HDDs incorporate a specific firmware (NASware 3.0) that improves the storage performance by increasing the compatibility, integration and reliability.

Clicking on the colored hard drive names will get you to their official product page on our website.
Keep us posted if you have more questions about them!
Good luck! :)
