Hey All! I'm new to overclocking, and would like some suggestions on setting up my rig! It is a custom built PC that I have been working on for a few weeks to assist with 3D modeling/Game Design. As you can tell by my specs, the processor is definitely the bottleneck. I have searched forums, and Google, looking for a similar setup as mine in order to overclock, but no one seems to be Oc'ing the Q9300. So I was wondering what I could do in order to overclock it to a stable enough range (Target somewhere around 3.2 - 3.4). The previous owner of this motherboard had it overclocked to 3.5Ghz. and was performing at a stable rate, but reset everything before I bought it. I will also include CPU-Z screenshots as well as Prime95 results from a 1 hour test, in case I left something out! Any help would be immensely appreciated!

My Rig Setup:
OS: Windows 10 Home x64

Mobo: Asus P5Q-SE2

CPU: Core2Quad Q9300 @2.5ghz LGA 775

RAM: 6GB
2 GEIL DDR2 2gb modules (max bandwidth 400MHz)
2 G.Skill DDR2 1gb modules (max bandwidth 400MHz)

GPU:
MSI GTX 970 (3.5gb (0.5 Vram)

PSU: Antec TruePower Quattro TPQ-1000 1000W Continuous Power ATX12V / EPS12V 80 PLUS BRONZE Certified

HDD:
1x 125gb SATA
1x 1 Terabyte SATA
(Not Sure of Brand)

Cooling:
Rear case fan (Scythe SFF21F 120mm)
CPU cooler is a Zalman CNPS 9900 120mm

Great reference guide. Back in 2009 I was able to get my new E8400 C2D build to 4.5GHz stable. I actually still have it as a general use PC but returned back to stock speed. Interesting how they leave that chip out in reference (in red below I added):

Duals:
E6540/50: 7.0x333 = 2.33 GHz
E6750: 8.0x333 = 2.67 GHz
E8190/8200: 8.0x333 = 2.67 GHz
E6850/8400: 9.0x333 = 3.00 GHz
E8500: 9.5x333 = 3.16 GHz
E8400: 9.0x333 = 3.00 GHz
E8300: 8x333 = 2.83 GHz

It's been so long since I've done any kind of overclocking on those processors, I don't remember a lot of the details. I still have a Q9300 myself, although the system it's in rarely gets used for anything other than troubleshooting anymore. I wish I could be more helpful.
