I have tried to upgrade the RAM in this dell 560 from 4GB (4x1gb) to 8GB (4x2GB) This unit is stock as it came. My problem is that after installing the new RAM all I get is 2 beeps, will not boot up.
I understand that the 2 beeps indicates that the system does not detect the RAM. I have tried numerous posts tying to fix this problem. Even went back to the 4GB (4x1gb) which was working just fine before I started messing with it, all I get is 2 beeps and no boot up. I have checked all the cable connections, proper seating of the ram, tried installing 1 mod of ram at a time, tried clearing the CMOS setting, tried removing the battery on the motherboard all to no avail. Any help

What DRAM are you trying to install? I'm guess a newer line, which would be using high density memory ICs that aren't compatible with the older 775 mobos. Try unplugging, resetting CMOS then start with 1 of the older sticks and see if you can get to BIOS, set to best defaults. Let us know what DRAM you are trying, I'd suggest updating the BIOS and try the GSkill NT series of value DRAM in 1066

I tried to install Micron 8GB (4x2G) 1Rx8 DDR3 PC3-12800U 1600MHz 240pin Non-ECC replacing Kingston 4GB (4x1GB) 1RXx8 PC3-10600U. I tried resetting CMOS by way of jumper to no avail. Also tried with 1 of the older sticks all I get is two beeps. I tried again as suggested two beeps, will not boot up.
