Solution
and if there was in his world all he would need to do is check the boards specs and supported cpu compatibility list in the support page ..

[for example]

the 990fxa ud3 revision 1 - 3 -- NO

any board from any brand will offer this info so you know what supported on each board and its revision

only thing is with asus that specs a board with 140w and has the 220w chips listed as supported ?? that's how sloppy asus has got [opinion]

''Supports CPU up to 140 W''
http://www.asus.com/us/Motherboards/CROSSHAIR_V_FORMULAZ/specifications/

but yet shows '' FX-9370(FD9370FHW8KHK, 4.4GHz, 8C, L3:8M, 220W,rev.C0,AM3+) ALL 1403 and FX-9590(FD9590FHW8KHK, 4.7GHz, 8C, L3:8M, 220W,rev.C0,AM3+) ALL 1403

http://www.asus.com/us/Motherboards/CROSSHAIR_V_FORMULAZ/HelpDesk_CPU/

what a joke

Solution
quick on that best answer button ??

theres only a hand full of boards that truly built to handle the 220w chips

I will suggest that you stick with a chip like 8350 or something [125w ] and overclock it if needed .. the 220w chips are hard to get right and harder to cool to me there more novelty then practical and you may wish you did not get one in the end

8 core eh think if ur gonna spend 500+ on just two items at a store u might as well call them and get pc tech answers.
most likely they will mirror the answers here PLUS they will give u alternative options.
till this day i still have my pc and im gaming against world class gamers with a pos system 8 years old.
thats how gg i roll lol.

anyways bottom line is go to a store and ask what u want and whats the best fit for u. ill put my diablo 3 account on the line that the tech will point u into another direction

you need the gigabyte 990fx gaming motherboard for about 120gbp theres only 1 bios available and it runs the 9590 fine its rated for 220w tdp processors but beware. i have 2400mhz memory that only runs at 2133 but ran at full speed on a m5a7 asus board wich is entry level. and your gonna need a BIG water cooler for it. it runs hot m8 no air coolers gonna cut it and your psu needs to be up to the job. at least a 750 gold rated is overkillish but do you wanna spend 175-200 on a cpu 100-120gbp on an aio cooler like the h110i gt or11 h115 they keep it running under load at 30-33 degrees which is cold for a cpu but great for stability and lifespan of components and dont forget your case fans for airflow as their are no air cpu coolers in the case your vrm,s arent being cooled so case fans in the best configuration will help. tbh the 9590 is more of an enthusiast processor that doesnt really work out to be efficiently priced compared to intel when you spend on the extra parts. but with the cooler leds and the mobo leds easy overclocking capability with the cooler and a nice gpu its a solid rig. bought the mobo and processor but got wrong board firstly the 990x gaming which only does 125w tdp cpus but kept it because the m2 slot for an ssd that fits underneath your grathics card and runs 4x faster than a sata 3 ssd without taking any room up in your rig and i put my old 8350 in works a charm .sorry for the ramble as i know you probably got one by now but these points should be considered before buying the 9590 the cost of all components might not equate to valid performance as compared to the intel alternatives but the prices will drop when the new desktop cpu is announced so hope this helps some people
