I just want everyone to know that my computer is ancient and I understand that I need to upgrade I just can't afford to right now. I'm building on an extremely low budget. That being said, I hope someone can still help me.

I just replaced the processor in my HP Compaq DC5850 from an Athlon X2 7750 to a Phenom X4 9500. I figured the upgrade from dual core to quad core would be better but it seems that the Phenom X4 is actually having quite a bit of trouble running these lower end games such as Counter Strike: Global Offensive and Rust: Legacy. I have also not changed the graphics card after installation of the new cpu so that should rule it out as the issue.

Computer Specs:
AMD Phenom X4 9500
6 gb PC2-6400 Ram
GT 730
Seagate Barracuda 7200 rpm 1 tb HDD
Thermaltake Purepower 600w PSU

The 9500 was the B2 revision that had the TLB issue. The patch slowed it down by about 10%. Add that to the 500mhz clock advantage held by the 7750, and you have a dual core that is about 30 faster during one or two threaded operation. Sounds to me like your dual core was just a better gaming chip than your new quad core.
