Hi,

I am about to get a simple HP with no optical drive nor ram nor hdd for really low money. Perfect for my needs.

Then I am about to get 2x4GB of RAM and here is the problem, as recommended ram costs twice more than relatively the same (in terms of parameters) ram.

So, will any 2x4GB that is 1333 DDR3, non-buffered and non ECC will work? Let's say are there 90% chance. I hardly hear there are problems with memory, and there is a lot of 6005 on the marker, so I think to give it a try....On the other hand, if I get used sticks I wont be able to return it :/

Anyone tried? Appreciate your opinion.

Hi,

I did get some basic GoodRam to check, and it worked like a charm.
If this worked, then any other popular ram sticks will work as long as it meets the specs.

Thanks!

Yes, supports up to 1600 MHz DIMM. If four slots, then 4 x 4 GB. If your variant has only 2 slots, then 2 x 4 GB.

Memory type: DDR3 1333 MHz / 1600 MHz (PC3-10600 / PC3-12800) Non-ECC 240Pin DIMM

Thanks.
Forgive me, this would be HP Compaq 6005 SFF.

Yep I am aware of specs though there are some compatibility issues and recommendations. Obviously I am going to use pair of dimms. We shall see :)
