HI,

I have a lenovo g580 with windows 8.1 and ubuntu 14.04 on the same hdd. Recently, I have purchased a brand new ssd for my system and I tried a clean installation of windows 10 (I removed my old hdd and put it in a case for other use). I downloaded the .iso using the tool provided by microsoft and created a bootable usb for the installation. So, everytime (and I mean everytime) I try to install windows 10, the procedure stucks in Getting Files Ready For Installation. At first, I thought that my ssd was corrupted but I tried to install ubuntu 14.04 and everything was ok. Finally, I made a last effort for windows 10 and the same problem keeps showing.... I'm desperated :??:

More details:
Lenovo g580
Ram : 6 gb
Cpu : Intel i7 3520M

SSD:
Sandisk Ultra II 128Gb

Solution
Seems like I haven't explained myself well enough, so sorry for the misunderstanding. :)
I meant that if you have a different computer which you could try the SSD with, you could take out its other drives and connect just the SSD, so that you can try to install Windows on it and see if the same issue occurs. If you are able to install Windows properly this would mean that neither the flash drive nor the SSD are at fault.
Hey there, nina_siam.

You could try creating a different installation media, like a DVD if you have access to an optical drive and try again, to see if the same thing happens. It could be a faulty flash drive. If you have access to a different computer, you could also try the SSD with it and test it for errors, just to be on the safe side. It would be even better if you could try installing Windows on that drive when using another PC/laptop. Other than that you could check if there's a firmware update available for that SSD model and install it and try again afterwards.

Hope that helps. Please keep me posted.

thanks for the quick response Boogieman,

Unfortunately, I've tried many different flash drives and I had the same problem. Optical drive will be my next choice. Concerning the SSD, the only thing I did so far is putting it in a case and formating it through disk management. An other question, about installing Windows on ssd when using another PC/laptop, you mean using an other pc to make the installation or something else ?Because i'm not getting it fully :)

Thanks again,
Nina
