cursor jumping out of field on win 7 pro

When I'm typing in fields, my cursor just disappears, and there is a bell sound when it happens. I have to click on the field to make it active again. It seems to be happening more and more often.

I don't think that's it. It seems like another program is taking over. The machine gives an audio error message when it jumps too. I am also working on VPN which they recently tinkered with, such that Yahoo messenger no longer works when I'm logged in, but auto runs when I log out. Im testing it now with Yahoo turned off. I'll update if that stops it.
