A few weeks ago my crappy 7 year old 500w power x3 psu finally bit the dust, saw it fart some fire when I tried to turn it on

Anyways that aside I decided to find a new psu, and with my lack of money I needed something I didn't have to pay £50 for I needed something cheap but not as bad as a nameless brand and my friend recommended I get something 80+

I'm 17 with no job so every pound counts, and I came across the aerocool integrator at about £30 including delivery (honestly compared to anything else this was damn cheap)

Still have it and it works just fine, I'm just looking over people talking about it on this forum and it seems like I bought something I shouldn't have.

Heres my specs (they barely even hit 400w never mind 500)
CPU - AMD Phenom II X4 945 C3 at 3.6GHz (no extra voltage)
GPU - HD 5770 at 950MHz and 1300 memory clock
Mobo - ASUS M4N78-AM
RAM - 8gb ddr2
And it runs 2 SSD's and an HDD because reasons
PSU - Aerocool Integrator 500w 80+ bronze

So yeah it's a fairly low power rig and its ran off a crap psu all these years, my mate mighy give me a 660Ti eventually which is even less power so am I good?
This can't be as bad as a nameless psu right?

Yes. It can, but likely isn't.

Fact is, if most of what people think of crappy power supplies was actually true, then 95% of all power supply manufacturers would be out of business (and yet, they're not). Was it a wise decision? Probably not, but if it's the only option available to you at the time, what else are you going to do?

Bottom line is, the PSU is *THE MOST* important component inside any computer system. It it goes, it has the tendency to take other components with it, so you really do not want to skimp on quality when it comes to power supplies.

I think its fine for that pc. If it was a brand new expensive gaming pc I would tell you its probably worth the money to invest in a quality power supply. But for that pc I think that aerocool will do just fine. Here is a review of the 600watt version below.

Wow you guys replied very fast
Yeah it was sorta my only option at the time
The next cheapest psu's were just too high an asking price, I would have spent a lot more for a cooper master if I actually had some kinda income

Anyways thanks for the replies

It cant seriously be as bad as my old nameless one can it?
That kitguru test showed that it didnt lie about its specs in any way and it can actually maintain max wattage with a good gpu
The downside was that the parts seemed cheap and chinese
