Blue Yeti Quality is Bad

Hi, I just recently purchased a Blue Yeti, and am having some problems with it. The quality is sounding bad(friends in Skype are source of info). There is also a loud thumping noise when typing or moving ever so slightly and hitting my desk. I know an arm or shock mount would help greatly, but I can't afford one right now. I have watched many videos on editing the sound of it, but they're all for commentaries and YouTube videos. I have tried editing the sound in REAPER, which helped(i could hear myself because of the monitoring), but the settings would not save and take action while I was in Skype. Help would be VERY appreciated, thanks.

You NEED to isolate it from your desk. Your issue isn't that the quality is bad, rather that it's so good all the random noises are getting picked up.

The best thing to do is use a boom and floor stand to move the mic closer to your mouth and then reduce the gain, that should isolate against most of the issues you have now.

Here's a few stands that are in your budget considering you spent $100 on a mic: http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/buy/Mic-Stands-Boom-Arms/ci/14715/N/3991602305+4294957151+4294957148/mxp/50/origSearch/Mic+Stands+

Thanks for the reply, but I don't think a floor stand would fit in with the rest of my setup which is used almost 100% for gaming. I would, however, like a desk stand, and eventually a shock mount.

I was gonna get that in the first place, but if you look in the item description, it says it's not suitable with the blue yeti.

Sounds more like a general "this is not a USB boom" warning than a specific compatibility issue. After all, the XLR cable is integral

I'm not sure, because they make the exact same one(just the arm)without the built in XLR cable and shockmount and it says the exact same thing.
