Have a 64bit Acer Aspie Laptop (states it is 64 bit on sticker of laptop - so yes, it is a 64 bit processor). HDD crashed, replaced with same size - 500 gb HDD, i have 3 back ups (b.u.'s) which includes original system back-up they recommend. When i attempt to install the back-ups ALL FAIL!!!! I work for a company that is gold member status (i think) with Microsoft, so we get deal emails from Microsoft about buying Windows or Office products. I purchased a Window 7 Pro 32 bit DVD sometime ago, never used it. can i install onto Acer Laptop with out issues? or will it clock processor to 32 bit not 64 bit???? really irks me, lent laptop to family friend, they downloaded porn and did not keep anti-virus program up to date. they gave back to me and admitted what happened. after 3 days, was finally able to get anti-virus program to reload, ran program, found a virus, needed to restart to clear it - once restarted, virus damaged boot sector files - now will not start. trying to determine if i can use the 32bit DVD or if i need to spend $20 plus shipping for Original Software. what ticks me off more - is the fact i have 3 back ups, that fail! and yes, i triple checked size and speed of old HDD with new - speed i dont think is a factor, but size is - both are 500GB HDD with 5400 RPM - only thing different, old one is Toshiba, new one is Western Digital Blue... help please ... thanks,

The install media will install a 32 bit version of windows 7, but the key is good for either the 32 or 64 bit versions. You just have to find your own 64 bit install media.
