I recently scored a GTX 260 at my local goodwill for $15. Took it apart and cleaned everything out and replaced the thermal paste. Tested it in my brother's machine and everything is working beautifully.

I am planning on using it for a budget build paired with a Xeon X3363 (4 cores @ 2.83Ghz - LGA 771/775) with 4GB of DDR2 RAM all powered by an EVGA 600B PSU. The motherboard is from an old Dell Optiplex 755. I have everything, however, the PCI-e x16 riser I need (only one slot and the CPU cooler gets in the way) and the CPU (with 771 to 775 adapter) are still in the mail.

Since the card is DirectX 10, I know that some newer games that I want to play, such as Far Cry 4 and MGS V can't be played.

I'm fine with playing some older games that came out around the time of the card's release (2009). I was wanting to ask if you guys had any title suggestions that would run well on this card.

It can also be frustrating looking up to see if each individual game supports dx9/10/11(with back. comp.)

I don't mind playing on medium settings and/or sub-1080p resolutions to get better frames.

My preferred genres are rpgs, wwii fps, action adventure, anything single player focused on heavy plot.

Games I already have/plan to buy:
Skyrim
Far Cry 3
Valkyria Chronicles
Fallout 3
Sleeping Dogs
Red Orchestra 2/Rising Storm
Heroes & Generals
TF2
Civ V
Portal 1/2
Half Life 2 (all versions)
Borderlands

To this day i have not found any game that couldnt run because of DX "incompatibility"
a simple line on a DX10 or even 11 or 12 game, and they would run all the same, which was quite usefull testing on a old 8800GT, tho ofc settings had to be set to quite low on that particular old card ;)

adding either the line -dx9 /dx9 -DX9 -d3dx9 to a game (seems to vary per game google a specific game to make sure) will effectively force the game to run in an older DX mode even tho it might not even have been intended. Even if the game was designed as DX 10 or 11, exactly because DX is backwards compatible
that way...

Add Fallout New Vegas to your list - definitely worthwhile. You may want to try Oblivion as well (since you have a couple other Bethesda games). It may be a 2006/2007 game, but you can mod it into something quite amazing.

It may be too late but you can turn GTA V down to lowest settings and directX 10, don't know if it will be a 'good' gamin experience but one to behold nonetheless

that way you can play any DirectX game on your card aslong as it supports atleast DX9, something about platform change prior to DX9,
so should work with forcing DX10 too

so you should be able to play even Far Cry4 and MSG V on your card, just expect to lower your settings to minimum and then some
