There was a power outage about two weeks ago. Using the wifi after that was fine for the most part, but as of two days ago, my ping in games suddenly shoots up to about 400, then settling down at 60, whereas it used to be 20-25. I do not know if it is my fairly new PC or the router, as I have reset the router and the PC many times. Please help!

With a wider impact covering other websites and devices start with TWC and see what they can determine from their end.

Do you use your own router or a router provided by TWC?

You could try running tracert and pathping from a couple of your devices. May indicate if the problem is outside of your network or not.

If all worked well for awhile after the power outage then I would exclude the power outage.

Does the ping increase happen only on game sites or other sites as well?

Do you see any problems with other network devices?

More detail is needed in order to narrow down the problem.

But I would suspect maybe your ISP. Have you contacted them about the drop in service?

Give them a call when experiencing high ping. See what they see from their end.

the ping is bad on websites, too, not just games. the high ping happens on other devices also, though not nearly as bad. i have not contacted TWC yet, but I am planning to. Thanks!
