Half the amount of RAM being recognised

Hi,

I have searched and searched and tried multiple solutions but I've run out of ideas so thought I would just ask.

I recently upgraded to an ASUS GTX 970 STRIX and noticed that my RAM (2 x 8GB Ripjaw) is showing up as only 8GB and not 16GB.

I have run diagnostics to no change.
I have removed the RAM sticks and reseated them.
I have put them in different slots.
I have also tested with 1 stick in and with 2 sticks in.

Each time it always results in half of the RAM being lost to seemingly nowhere. The System Info, Task Manager and CPU-Z all see half the amount there should be (8GB when 2 sticks, 4GB when 1 stick).

This was certainly not the case before I installed the 970, however the PC may have been damage in transit from Belfast to Guildford.

However, it doesn't make sense that both RAM sticks would consistently lose half of their total amount, nor does it make sense that all 4 slots are identically faulty.

BIOS seemingly does not give options for holding back RAM from Intel GPU (though it doesn't seem to be doing this anyway).

I am running Windows 10 64-bit.
