No administrator password

ok, my son gave me this computer, but, he can't remember his administrator password. I thought no big deal, cause I can get in from his other door. Problem, every time I try to do something, it has to be confirmed by you know who? Right, the administrator. UGH. This a Vista OS. If I load this computer with, like. Windows 7. Will I be the new administrator?

If you upgrade it, the user accounts will be transferred as well as their passwords. You'll have to do a clean install instead. If not, there are ways to remove the password but the forum rules do not allow us to post them.
