whats going on? motherboard shows 30c so atleast thats accurate

Solution
I would suggest trying a CMOS reset and seeing if that has any effect. Best way is to power off the PC and unplug it, then pull the lithium battery on your motherboard and leave it out for a few minutes. Replace the battery and restart your system. If your running the latest bios hopefully this will fix the issue. You may also want to install and check to see what you temperatures are reading in AMD Overdrive. A lot of hardware monitoring software has been known to report false temperatures with FX processors. AMD Overdrive is the only software that will report the true temperature. Use AMD Overdrive to monitor your system, not to actually attempt an overclock.

AMD FX 8 core processors also need 8+2 power phase to work properly...

AMD FX 8 core processors also need 8+2 power phase to work properly, your motherboard has maybe 4+2 or 6+2 (if its a M5A97 EVO). Your probably not going to be able to push much if any overclock on a board that doesn't have 8+2 power phase, and even at stock you may have some issues.

I've been doing alot of reading, any software won't read the chip correctly till 40 degrees roughly, so knowing that I am overclocks to 4.4ghz at 1.45 vcore stable, CPU temp is 50c on load and CPU socket is 60c on load. I also have a fan on my vrm heatsink
