So i just recently got this gpu and ever since i can not play any games. it causes my pc to reboot after 10 min or less when playing. ive checked my temps and my psu should be able to run it with no problem (corsair cx 750w). also updated my bios and installed latest drivers for the card. i had a gtx 760 and it ran perfectly fine and never had this problem. maybe this is a bad card?? please help

Solution
@Rex_7_ Sounds like you've zeroed in on the problem. I wonder what's causing the excess heat to pool inside your case. Are both the front and rear fans turning? Since you have an SSD and no hard drive, you could mount the 2.5" drive on the backside of the motherboard; many cases allow you to do that. Then you could remove the 3.5 drive cages, assuming that you don't need them. The other option is to upgrade the case, but honestly you can probably simply and cheaply fix the airflow with your current case. Would you mind stating what case you have? Also, pictures of the inside of your build would be helpful, if you're not exacerbated over this issue already.
did you uninstall the old drivers before removing old card then install fresh drivers after putting the new card in? This sounds honestly more like a temp issue. Have you checked your cpu temps, mobo temps, gpu temps etc? Really sounds like a temp issue. Is it only doing it while gaming? Have you tried a gpu stress test? If not try that and monitor your system with hwmonitor and report back your cpu temps and volts as well as gpu temps

yes uninstalled old drivers and installed new ones. cpu temps idle=24c stress=51c. gpu idle=30c playing 65c. ive done heaven benchmark and it passed without a problem. Only happens when im actually playing a game.

How does your PC reboot? does it show blue screen or gets locked down (i.e keeps repeating a sound, becomes unresponsive etc) or does it just directly reboot without any indications? If it just directly reboots, this reminds me of PSU failure (damaged or faulty unit?) or CPU overheating (maybe thermal paste was not applied properly OR cooler is not placed correctly). In my experience, RAM and motherboard problems show themselves with lock-downs or blue screens. Just my personal opinions

It directly reboots. Ill be playing for bout 10 mins and all sudden black screen with sound ripping and then pc turns off and back on within 5 seconds. i dont believe it to be my psu or my cpu overheating. i currently have my gtx 760 in and it runs complety fine. but once i put my 970 in and start playing then it reboots when gaming. btw battlefield 4 ran fine with the 970 but all my other games will reboot

Did you have any chance monitoring your CPU temps? maybe try 10-20 minutes CPU stress test. Sorry but it seems like damaged GPU although i'd make sure it's not CPU or PSU first. However, you say that there's no problems with the other GPU so as long as you plug the power cables properly (i assume so) it is not likely a PSU failure. Just my opinions though

So i was gaming today with my 760 in and i was playing for a good 3 hours no problem i was even checking my temps at the same time and they were normal CPU idle 27c playing 55c GPU idle 30c playing 64c. everything was going fine and then boom black screen sound shut off and then pc restart so now im thinking it could be the psu.... although ive only had it for a year corsair cx750w

maybe ill take it out and blow some air in it

Try that and see if it helps. Heck take your side panel off and maybe set a fan to blow on your computer and see if the added air movement helps. Could be your vrm getting hot or something maybe? I'd try blowing out the psu and make aute it isnt getting hot

yes i put the 970 back in and havent had a problem yet. i play bf4, star wars bf, total war series, gw2, and bunch of other strat games.

The added power from the gpu fans maybe was to much for your psu? Thats really odd. I would MAYBE see about rma'ing that psu just incase and telling them what its doing. Thats what my corsair hx850 was doing when i had both my 780ti's heavily overclocked. It would just reset my computer randomly when playing games so now its in my wifes machine pwering a 970 evga sc card.

I too have an Evga 970 and it is doing the same thing. This is a replacement RMA from Evga and was supposed to be good. Now they are giving me the run around trying to make it look like its my motherboard voltage. Which is 12.168 and steady right where it should be. They are not wanting to own the fact that this card's are terribly made. I want my money back and wont stop untlil I get it...
