Brand new MOBO - no display

I had issues with my homebuilt PC a few weeks ago, and after troubleshooting it with my brother's hardware, we got it down to MOBO and/or CPU. The problem then was that it wouldn't power on at all, but there was a green light on the MOBO when the PSU was plugged in.

So I ordered a new MOBO that just came in this morning. It powers on, but now the issue is that there is no display. First I tried going through my GPU with an HDMI cable. My monitor doesn't let me go to an output unless one is available, and in this case the 'HDMI 1' option was indeed available. However, when I selected it, there was no display.

Next I took the GPU out and trid connecting a VGA cable to the new motherboard. This time my monitor wouldn't even give me the option to select the VGA output. I tried both sticks of RAM in each of the two slots, and still the same thing.

My question is: assuming there's nothing wrong with the brand new motherboard, could this issue be due to he CPU? If not, does anyone have suggestions on what else I can try?

Thanks!

Edit: Found the case speaker and connected it to the motherboard - no beep at all.

-P8 H61-M LE CSM R2.0
-Intel Core i5-2500K Sandy Bridge Quad-Core 3.3GHz (3.7GHz Turbo Boost) LGA 1155 95W BX80623I52500K Desktop Processor Intel HD Graphics 3000
-G.SKILL Ripjaws X Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Desktop Memory Model F3-12800CL9D-8GBXL

As I mentioned, I just received that board this morning. With my previous motherboard, the problem started after I spilled liquid into the case - at first it would turn on with no display, then at one point it just turned off, and I couldn't get it to power on again, so I was hoping it was only a motherboard problem. I'm letting you know all this in case it helps narrow down the issue.

I can, but it'd be difficult to do so today. I'll post once I do.

In the meantime, can you tell me if a faulty CPU could cause this issue? Or if it was faulty, would it not even turn on at all?

Okay, I just bought a set of RAM mods from Best Buy, and it looks like I'll have to be returning them soon. Tried each one in each slot, and no signal from the board.

alexoiu was a big help, but unfortunately I was gone for a while buying the new RAM and it doesn't appear that he's around a the moment, so I'm wondering if anyone else could offer some help.
