hello, i just downloaded prime95 to test out my temps with h110i GT cooler, and cpu goes straight up to 100% usage and tempatures to 96C so i needed to quickly turn off my pc. also when i play games my tempatures are kinda unstable, for example with gta v i have about 18-30% cpu usage and tempatures are going from 40 to 55 in seconds and drops from 55 to 41 and then it goes back to 55... with old cooler (hyper 103 coolermaster) was tempatures just ok and stable. do you know where can be problem ? its kinda pissing me off. thanks

Solution
Maybe reseat the cooler and put a pea size drop and dont spread it out just put the cooler on and screw it down diagonally to get even spread of the compound. air bubbles can cause high heat as well

This might seems obvious but have you overclocked any?

It may be possible that one of the coolers components aren't working properly. Check to see if all the fans are running, and if possible listen for the pump. (As far as listening for the pump goes I have no clue what you should actually do to check the pump as i'm no expert.)

It was common with the older H80i and H100i to not make full contact with thinner motherboards. Mostly from ASRock and ASUS. Additional washers needed to be added between the motherboard and the backplate to increase clamping pressure.
