looking for Wifi amplifier

i need a wifi amplifier for my room. There is no to very bad wifi and i want to be able to play some games there. Does anybody know a good amplifier for wifi???

Never seen that brand but like many things the chips that are doing the work are only made by a small handful of companies and likely this unit contains the same chips as other brands.

AV500 is a good price point, the newer 600 and 1200 units cost quite a bit more and only increase the speed a bit.

Unfortunately like wireless powerline does not work in all houses so be sure that the place you buy them from has a return policy. Still they work ok in most houses....of course you get nowhere near 500m but all brands tell that lie.

Likely no legal device exists. The transmit power of WiFi devices is regulated by the government. Almost all routers transmit near the legal limit. You can find devices that claim to be amplifiers but there is really no way to tell what the output power really is since they do not submit them to the government. They could lie and you have no ability to do much about it.

There really is no good wireless solution to your problem. You could try something like a wireless repeater (many times called a extenders) but this would need to be placed about 1/2 way between your room and the router. These are not optimum devices to use. They may increase the signal levels but they damage the signal quality so should be used only when a poor quality signal is considered better than no signal at all.

You really don't want to play games on wireless anyway..especially when the signal level is poor.

A ethernet cable would be best but I would look at powerline network equipment before any wireless extender type solution.

I ment a repeater. I just asked what would be a good repeater or extender.

All will greatly degrade you signal. You do not want to play games on them they make the issues people find with wireless and games even worse.

There is not a huge difference in the brands buy the one you like. Problem is always placement. It can not go in your room since it would receive the same bad signal your PC does. You will have to try a couple locations and see what works best.

The brand is much used in the Netherlands (im dutch)
