Hi,

My computer's clock keeps jumping ahead by a number of hours on start-up. I've gone into BIOS and changed the time there and my Internet Time option does seem to correct it.

I'm just not sure what's causing it to change in the first place.

I'm running Windows 7.

The CMOS is a watch like battery located on your motherboard. Removing it and putting it back in will clear CMOS, it will also put your BIOS settings back to default so keep that in mind as well.

Mmm, what kind of settings are we talking about? It makes me anxious reading that but maybe I'm worrying about nothing.

What mobo and CPU? Have you checked for malware and virus's? Resetting the CMOS sets all to the original settings, so you will lose any OC, DRAM settings etc.....it will also set date and time to an earlier time, so will need to rest the date/time

I replaced the battery and that fixed the problem. Unfortunately, the new battery only lasted a couple of months. I changed it again and the third battery only lasted a couple of weeks.

Looks like I've found the problem but does anyone know why my battery power is being used so quickly?
