I have a 1TB hard disk which I have owned since 2010. I have copied several folders from my main laptop which I now use sparingly. I am unable to copy certain files and folders which I had copied from my hard disk onto any other new computer where it shows access denied due to security. How to resolve this? I can send screenshots to anyone who needs to see what the problem is.

Solution
It's because those folders were created under a different user account than the one you are using now.

Right-click on a folder and choose "Properties".
Under the "Security" tab, click "Edit".
Highlight (left-click) your user account name.
Tick the permissions you want (Read, Write, or Full Control)
Click 'OK'.

Repeat for each folder where access is denied.
