Hi,

I've been planning on buying a new psu as my old one developed a fault. However I have been really stuck on choosing a reliable psu that would fit my build. I checked out the seasonic m2 series which many claim to be reliable, but after reading the reviews on newegg, it seems it doesn't last long.

My needs isn't anything complicated. I'm looking for a power supply that would be at least 500w- basically to support my gaming build which includes:
an Intel i3 4170 & Sappire R9 270X.

What power supply would be best to choose that is both reliable but also not too expensive (under around £70) preferably from Amazon UK? Thanks in advance.

*I've gone through the power supply tier recommendation thread, but as I'm in the UK, the availability of a lot of those products are limited.

Thanks for the suggestion. I really was considering that and was firm on the first one.

But, as I just updated the thread, the reviews on newegg doesn't seem great. Many say the psu has failed them within the 2 years or less they have had it. My psu which just failed, an EVGA psu, lasted me less than a year which I just returned recently :(

To be fair I wouldn't trust a newegg review as toilet paper.

However it is an older design, I'm still running an S12 600 from around 2007. But that is sample of 1. The S12-II is an updated version of it, but has been around since maybe 2008, personally that would sound mature to my mind.

See what others say.

Yeah i think your right. To be honest most of the reviews from all sites when using google shopping comes out very positive. I've noticed most of the issues are around it's noise but apart from that most suggest it's fine. I'll definitely still keep this psu in mind, just want to check out other options before.

The EVGA G2 series 650w seems the best choice for me. After looking through other options, the EVGA model rates very high across all sites, with many claiming it's very well-built and reliable. The price is also very reasonable considering it's gold efficiency and fully modular design.
