Upgrade from G3258 Pentium - which 1150 for reasonable multi-threaded gaming?

Seeking some advice for upgrading my nearly 2 year old affordable gaming rig.

I feel my G3258 Pentium, moderately overclocked, is struggling now with more recent games - namely stuttering and occasional freezing I've noticed in games like GTA V and Witcher 3.

My MoBo (Z97), memory and GPU are all reasonable, so I think it's time to upgrade the CPU to a proper multi-threaded approach.

I need an 1150 socket option and ideally want to spend less than £100 - I don't mind trying ebay 2nd hand options which fall within the budget.

I know the 4670k or 4690k chips would be the likely best route, but both are looking like £150+ used still...

Suggestions?

Like @bicycle_repair_man said, go for a non-K i5 as an upgrade. It's a true quad-core (versus the dual-core-with-HyperThreading i3), so it will last you longer & provide better performance, & while you won't be able to really OC the chip it'll be more in your price range.
