Hey everyone:

I have a new rig (specs below) in which I recently (past two months) added the above listed drive (M.2 Samsung 950 Pro 512GB) as my main OS and boot drive. Recently (which could be ever since the install, I am not overly sure anymore) I am having the following issues:

1. My machine does NOT reboot. I can shut the unit down, and start up normally. However, when I select to restart or when I press my reset button on the case (which does change the LED's on the motherboard for a brief moment), nothing else happens. This includes failed reboots on updates (driver and windows).

2. After leaving my machine on and going to bed, almost always in the morning the machine will be in a frozen state. This means that the monitor is off, the fans are on, but there is no response from the box. My LED's on my mouse and keyboard are still lit, but numlock and so on do nothing. I should note that in this condition, if I pull my keyboard or mouse USB and reconnect, the LED's never actually light back up.

I am looking for some suggestions on how to repair this issue, my equipment includes:

- MSI Z170A Gaming Pro w/lighting ATX 3way SLI/Crossfire Ultra M.2 USB 3.1
- Intel Cire i5-6600k 3.5 GHZ Skylake Proc
- Nvidia GTX 970 GTX Gaming 4GB
- 4x4 ADATA DDR4-2800 XPG Z1 RAM
- Samsung 950 Pro 512GB M.2 Boot Drive
- Kingston 256GB SSD (2.5)
- WD 1TB Caviar Blue Spinner
- LG 14X DVD Writer
- Asetek 550LC 120MM WaterCooler
- EVGA 600 Watt 80 Plus Power Supply
- Windows 10 Pro

Solution
This is solved... unless I crash in the next few hours :)

The issue was that I did a CMOS reset recently, and apparently the boot options got change back to legacy+UEFI instead of just UEFI. Handled the change and now the machine reboots fine. Moral of the story is to be very careful with BIOS options when using a M.2 boot drive.
