I turned my computer off and unplugged it overnight because of a storm, when i turned it back on this morning my computer doesn't recognize the hdmi audio anymore.

i tried uninstalling the drivers multiple times and even used Display Driver Uninstaller in safe mode.

it's not installing the hd audio drivers anymore.

I see them unpacked in C:\NVIDIA\DisplayDriver\361.75\Win8_WinVista_Win7_64\International\HDAudio

is there a way to manually install from there?

The only error for drivers i see in device manager is called "NVIDIA Enthusiasts Platform KDM" it says "Windows cannot load the device driver for this hardware. The driver may be corrupted or missing. (Code 39)"

but i'm not sure if that has anything to do with the sound or not.

I think the next thing I would try would be to use DDU to remove your drivers, shut down and unplug your computer, then physically remove the card. Re-install the card and install the drivers that have worked best for you. Some of the newer drivers have had problems.

Sigh... Okay can someone please explain to me how exactly something like this works:

I plugged in my older harddrive (current one is an ssd that i cloned from that hd months ago)

hdmi audio works fine on it.

then i turn the computer off and boot to my ssd again.... theres the hdmi audio back like nothing happened.

???

You could try to load the drivers manually. Right click on high definition audio driver, select update driver software, then select browse my computer for driver software and then browse to the unpacked driver location you mentioned.
