I've been suffering from very high ping for the last few days ranging from 400-1000 ms. However; whenever I power cycle my modem the ping immediately returns to about 30-35 ms. Unfortunately this last for only 2 minutes tops. The modem is a ZyXel P-600 series that I got about 2 years ago roughly. Do I need to purchase a new modem or is there another way this can be resolved?
Results from pinging google with a 2 minute interval: https://gyazo.com/40fc9fe608ab6cec16ebbc17fca84e01 .
Thanks.

EDIT: Also received this error when I attempted to diagnose the network: https://gyazo.com/46828273f7b8cbf1257e7269026070d9 .

Thanks for taking the time to help me out. I believe it was some program on my computer which was causing the virus so I ran a few malware scan programs along with my Norton antivirus scan. found nothing besides a few minor adware which when removed did not affect the ping. My guess it was a miscellaneous program causing the issue though there is still the possibility it was a very hard to find virus. Regardless I solved the issue by performing a system restore and now my computer is running on a solid 30-40 ms ping! :D

Thanks for the advice, though I did just discover something. I connected a friend's laptop to the internet and it worked perfectly fine with 50 ms and no network issues whatsoever. Seems to me that it is an issue with my computer, though uninstalling and reinstalling my network drivers didn't seem to do anything. I'm running a malware scan now as well. Would there be anything else that could be contributing to this issue?
