I know that question asked a lot but hear me out before closing: I have 2x2gb and going to add 2x4gb. They have same spec (9-9-9-24 lat/1333mhz).i know best way to find out is trying. Im doing that.

My question is how to tell if they are getting along? I mean my computer is working atm, with seemingly fine, but can they cause problems even with current circumstances?

Is extra 4 gb worth the worry? (8-12)

Solution
Yes they can be different sizes (2gb stick and 4gb stick) just make sure they are alternating like this 4gb 2gb 4gb 2gb in your motherboard
(doesnt matter if you start with the 2gb or 4gb just alternate them)

And you already have the same speed so you should be good to go! and no 12 gb isnt needed for gaming, 8gb is perfect
(1600 mhz is better but you already have 1333 which is a minor difference)

Thanks guys. No BSOD till now. Hope never saw one. Its seemingly smooth, especially going 4gb ram to 12 gb, feels like flying (at gaming/the division)
