AMD 7950 stuck at pcie 2.0 x8

Hi guys, still rocking an x58 build, but having a problem with one of my gpus. It's stuck at x8 speed, and I cannot get it to work at x16! I have two 7950 running in crossfire, and I've tried running it single in every port on the motherboard, but it just wants to run at x8. The other one runs at x16 if used in the same port, or in crossfire, how can this be?

Tried clean install of OS as well as new drivers :/

i see, a gpu problem then. never encountered such issue ,does it run flawlessly other than that? inspect pcie pin connectors on cards and on mobo slots, if you cant find anything unusual and runs fine , live it as is .

P6tdeluxe, problem is its running at x8 single without crossfire, the other one works at x16 single, as in the other GPU not connected :) even if I trybtge same port the x16 card is running in it still runs at x8

Hey, sorry I was bad at explaining x)
If I take both cards out, and leave them on the floor, I then put one in the first pcie slot, it shows 2.0 x16.

Now if I take this one out, and replace it with the other, this one only shows x8! This is in gpu-z and yes I've tried with a load on it.

Hope you understand, one of my cards shows x8 no matter if it's in crossfire or running single. But the other one is fine :p
