I am using windows 7 on one and Windows 10 on another hard drive on my PC. I use Windows 10 and keep windows 7 as backup. Everything works fine on win 10 but mouse and keyboard do not work on win 7 and I cannot log in. I have both installed for over a year and it was working the last time I checked(about 5 months ago). I haven't changed any settings recently Please help.

Yeah. Doesn't work

I would try to find a ps/2 keyboard to at least get in to 7 and be able to look things over ?? I keep a cheap 8 buck one from walmart around just for things like this when they pop up

then use it in the boards ps/2 port

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/PS/2_port

for all you know its another cheap Microsoft trick to sabotage 7 so you only end up using 10 ?? there real funny on that

this should not be affecting you but you can see how its going

"A cheap Microsoft trick to Sabotage 7"! Naw, good old MS would never try to coerce it's loyal customers into using its new spyware software.

Unfortunately, MS extended support for Win 7 ends in April 2017, so in about a year's time there will be more "public" computers, as you say. I may just leave my wife's Windows 7 computer as is, since she doesn't go to questionable web pages. I should be good on Windows 8 for a couple more years. Maybe by then this computer "fad" will play out and we will be back to pencil and paper.

I'd hate to think Microsoft had something in ten that could jump over in to 7 and ''fix'' things .. seems funny out of the blue the usb just quite on 7 but still works fine and dandy on 10 ??? maybe some of that under your nose mandatory updating you accept with 10 put a harm 7 bug in .. lol ... ??

any way the ps/2 ports should work native and near fail safe

It sounds like your usb drivers for Win 7 got corrupted or are missing. (Whether or not this is the fault of Windows 10 installed on the other HDD-who knows)?

When you installed Windows 10 onto the HDD, was the Windows 7 HDD also installed (connected) in the computer? That could cause a problem. Try disconnecting the Windows 10 HDD (unplug the SATA cable, no need to physically remove it) and see if you can boot up Win 7. How do you specify which OS you want to boot up-boot order in the BIOS?

Other than that, ask your friends, co-workers if thay have a ps/2 mouse and keyboard you could borrow.

I installed windows 7 after Windows 8 which I then upgraded to 10, so 7 was still connected at that time.
To specify the OS, I get an option on startup so I choose there. The mouse and keyboard are working at that point.
I'll try disconnecting 10 and tell you if it works.

''I can't find a ps/2 keyboard or mouse around''

wal mart , heck local thrift store like a goodwill most times has plenty of new and used ones [cheap ] I all ways keep one around just incase of times like this one I got is a nice heavy duity feeling one from a old HP pavilion [built like a tank /mechanical keyboard quality for like 3 bucks]
