Computer crashes/freezes frequently in different ways

I have an old i7 2.2 ghz 4 core (8 logical processors) 8 GB RAM Dell machine with a AMD Radeon graphics card. It's about 4 years old at this point and has been on day and night pretty much the whole time (I use it almost every single day for many hours each day).
Recently, it started having problems. When I play full-screen games on it, the machine sometimes crashes/freezes. Generally the screen simply stops and the speakers are giving out a hard buzzing sound. Keyboard and mouse do nothing, and the only way out I've found is a hard shut-down (hold the button down for five seconds), then restart. During the game-play where this most frequently occurs, I am connected by shared folders to another computer that is reading/writing to my machine, and I frequently alt-tab out of the game to check that, edit it, and re-save so the other machine can read it and modify as well, back and forth.
Other times it's just sitting there with the front-loader for a game on the windows screen and the whole thing freezes overnight such that just a press of the on/off at all shuts it down. Then I can reboot.
I'm not even sure where to start on this, what sort of information you'd need. Is this likely to be a graphics card issue? Motherboard? CPU? RAM? If it's just the graphics card, maybe I could get a new one and replace. Any of the others... I'm probably talking about getting a whole new computer since while I have some feel that I could swap out a graphics card, I wouldn't touch the motherboard, CPU, probably not even the RAM (I fried a set of RAM earlier in my life trying to do that, and from what I recall RAM is temperamental).

I got a BSOD once or twice, but mostly not that, and a couple times the computer screen went funky and when I tried to turn it back on the machine just beeped at me until I turned it off again and left it for a while, but it hasn't done either in quite a while now.

Ran the memtest, it gets part way through (22% the first time, 17% the second time), and then froze. Going to see if I can get some other RAM to test with, swapping out.
