Can't fit my GPU in the PCI-e x16 slot

I just got a gtx 460 from a friend. This is my first time changing anything in a PC, so I watched quite a few videos on building PCs just so I don't destroy anything. Anyways there was already a 8400 GS inside and I pulled it out after unscrewing it and the, what I describe as, a little guard that makes the screws unreachable. It came out very easily I just had to hold a little button on the side of the PCI slot. This new card won't fit. I manage to push in the back part(the little guard that is supposed to go under the button I previously mentioned) but the front(the part closest to the back of the case) won't go down in. So the card just sits there kind of slanted preventing me from screwing it in as well. It just makes me VERY confused as the "connectors" to the PCI-e slot is exactly the same as the one on the 8400 GS.
Most of the threads I already checked out mention moving the motherboard a little, but I tried putting the 8400 GS back in and it slides in perfectly.

Any help would be greatly appreciated, as I would be very disappointed if I have to contact the person on ebay to try and get him to take back the GTX 460.

The GTX 460 in the slot, you can see the little gold notches poke out at the front:

Here are some pictures showing the offset from the screw holes.

SOLVED: I was freaking out, but in reality I didn't have a cable to check if the card is not actually seated. Upon further inspection I also noticed that the IO plate of the 8400 GS was actually bent quite bad. It is the problem with the case. Thank you for your quick answers.

That's a common issue with cheap computer cases, and sadly, not the video card's nor the ebay seller's fault. As far as I can see on those pictures, the card fits all the way into the slot properly and the problem is the case not being aligned. It's likely that your case has bent over time and the bracket of the 8400GS did too, and that's why it was aligned. There's nothing wrong with the card, you'll have to apply some pressure on the case's aluminum to push it in so that it reaches the card's holes. But I would suggest you leave it like that or get another case, as you could break something because of the additional pressure the card might be exposed to.

Maybe you could try pushing the case's back before installing the card and try...

If you take a closer look at the GTX460 installed, you can see the front part of the card is not fully inserted into the slot. This is not a case issue.

@druska - It may take a bit of pressure, but the card should fit cleanly into the expansion slot. I would recommend removing the card and re-installing it; making sure you press the card straight down into the expansion slot. If the 8400GS fit in there, so will the GTX460.

I will get the DVI-I cable I need to connect it to a monitor to actually see if I get something to display tomorrow. I know the ventilator works as I turned the computer on with the power cables in though. I will post an update tomorrow when I actually know for sure that it is not plugged in.
